"The thought of modern industry in the hands of Christian charity is a dream worth dreaming. The thought of industry in the hands of paganism is a nightmare beyond imagining. The choice between the two is upon us." Teddy Roosevelt, 1909. He may have had a premonition of the emerging 20th century, the most brutal of human history (so far).
T. R. had some Godly common sense left, a badly declining gift among Christians today. The dedication of commerce and industry to God is the ONLY way we will overcome the terrible fact that there are so many starving, so many hurting, so many lonely, so many corrupted by greed among us.
Jesus spoke more words, I am told, on our possessions and how we must "let go" of them to enter the Kingdom of God than about any other subject. Our possessiveness of the world seems to be the major barrier in our relationship to God. God, in Deuteronomy 8, warns the Hebrews, that when they enter the Promised Land and become well off with vineyards and villages and herds of sheep, that they should not begin to think that "my strong right arm has gotten me this...."
We, in America, have adopted precisely this attitude. Our theories of economics (and just about everything in the public arena) almost totally ignore our responsibility to God. We think of economics as an essentially secular thing. God both designed and created the world, and He owns the economic part of it as well as the rest.
I have also heard that the typical American is more reticent to speak about his financial situation than about his sex history. We hide and protect that which we depend on and think vulnerable to the slings of outrageous fortune. God cannot be taken from us, so if we have Him for our dependency, we need fear no loss. (See the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6.)
We hope to explore the Biblical understanding of economics in this library. God has opinions about how the world's resources should be organized for His own purposes, and He expects us to understand and follow them.
It will change when Judeo-Christians
recover their intellectual, moral, and spiritual credibility, and not before.
Economics ought to be thought of as people taking care of people.

Deep Financial Doo Doo -- the
Consumerist mentality -- How to turn that tide..
http://www.sharesavespend.com/
Here is a website to visit if you are
concerned about the consumerist mentality which has taken over both our adult
and child population. We are being told (often indirectly) to "spend, spend,
spend" by our politicians because it will "help the economy". The website
gives stats which suggest just the opposite. A society which has next to no
savings is in deep doo doo when troubles hit. The consumerist mentality has
been fed to us for several decades and it will take at least that long to get
out. It is one of the worst traps we can get into.
But there is a way out. The website
teaches you how to get a grip on your spending and have a saving/sharing
mentality. The program does not appear (at first glance, at least) to have a
religious connection, but it seems that it would go well with a tithing
attitude. Following Jesus is the real way out.
** What is Freemarket Capitalism??? E. Fox
The Real Roots of Poverty -- Tom DeWeese - The DeWeese Report from The American Policy Center. A superb (and short) lesson in economics and how poverty is sustained and how it can be ended.

At present, Christians are losing the battle for freedom because we do not understand our own Christian worldview. As Christians get back their worldview and thus their political and social and economic philosophies, we will be able to offer a winning challenge to the globalist tyranny into which we are quickly drifting.

And if you are still
skeptical about the bankruptcy possibility, the
Telegraph in England notes the same article. Whether the US will go down the economic
drain hole remains to be seen. But if we do not return to our constitution
under God, get rid of the Fed Reserve, the IRS,
public education, and federal welfare -- and return government to being ONLY
the referee for society and the Church its conscience, we richly deserve it.
Another question: How much of
this economic crisis is just another part of the globalist strategy to use crisis in order to centralize
government? And where are the Christians? Globalists fear nothing
more than a renewed Christendom. The author seems to be
concerned for the future of our children and for honesty in reporting, and he
but he is a socialist, and shows no signs of wanting or understanding
free-market economics. E. Fox
