[COMMENT: See below the email I sent regarding this to two Roman Catholic resources. E. Fox]

"Homophobia Law" to Impact Homilies, Seminaries
BRASILIA, Brazil, MARCH 18, 2007 (Zenit.org).-
Debate continues over so-called homophobia legislation, which seeks to
criminalize anything considered a condemnation of homosexuality, including
priests who speak against the practice in homilies.
Priests could face two to five years imprisonment for preaching against
homosexuality. And a rector of a seminary who refuses admission to a
homosexual student could face three to five years.
Thursday, Brazil's Senate declined to vote on the legislation. Instead, the
senators decided to form a work group, which will organize public audiences
to hear specialists on the subject.
According to ZENIT sources, a number of citizens voiced opposition to the
law, motivating in part the senators to form the study group.
Specialists say the "homophobia law" would essentially imply a legal frame
for religious persecution.
One source told ZENIT: "In addition to the rights established in the
constitution for all people, the homosexual, by the simple fact of being
homosexual, would gain privileges."
Maria das Dores Dolly Guimar„es, lawyer and president of the Paulist
Federation of Movements in Defense of Life, explained: "Whoever dared to
criticize such behavior would be treated as a delinquent."
Email sent by E. Fox to http://www.zenit.org/english/ and to http://www.catholicparents.org/
I received the email below, and am deeply concerned that our Judeo-Christian leadership is failing to turn the tide against the homosexual agenda. What is happening in Brazil is happening all over the world, with little effective resistance.
I believe that we are in a very winnable battle and that God has given His people the equipment to retake the world for Him. The Great Commission has not been withdrawn, nor was it given with no hope of significant accomplishment.
But we must be willing to force honest conversation into any and every issue of importance. Sexual behavior and being made in the image of God male and female, are certainly among those.
Please read the attached three articles.
The first article is a summary of the available evidence on the homosexual issues.
The second gives the only strategy, I believe, which can turn around the homosexual agenda with reasonable speed. (What would happen if every time a homosexual advocate got up to speak, he knew that he would have to defend homosexual behavior, specifically and in detail? There would be far fewer of them getting up. And most importantly, the public would catch on that we have been lied to for over four decades.)
The third article is primarily a summary of the theological argument in favor of a male priesthood, but, relevant to the homosexual issues, it gives what I believe to be a secure and solid argument for our gender distinctions.
Either we cut through all the rabbit trails upon which homosexualist proponents lead us (marriage, inclusiveness, pluralism, etc.), and cut to the real chase -- homosexual behavior -- or we continue to lose because the other side is so good at claiming the moral high ground. We Christians have put ourselves so far behind the 8-ball that it will be a hard and nasty struggle at best, but it can be done if we persist with truth and grace.
